What this site is
PantrySwap is an educational cooking reference. The substitution ratios and notes are general culinary guidance drawn from established practice. They are offered in good faith and carefully checked, but cooking has too many variables for any chart to guarantee a result in your kitchen.
Not dietary, allergy or medical advice
Nothing here is dietary, nutritional or medical advice. Dietary tags describe ingredient categories, not the specific brand in your cupboard - manufacturers change formulations without notice and shared production lines are common.
If you are cooking around a food allergy, coeliac disease or a medically directed diet, verify every product label yourself and follow your clinician's guidance. Do not rely on this site to determine whether a food is safe for you or anyone you cook for.
Alcohol
Where recipes involve alcohol, note that it does not fully cook off. If you avoid alcohol for medical, religious or recovery reasons, use one of the alcohol-free substitutes listed rather than relying on evaporation.
Subscriptions
Premium is optional. The substitution database, diet indexes, search and the herb converter remain free. Subscriptions are billed through RevenueCat and Stripe. Recurring plans renew automatically until cancelled, which you can do at any time via the link in your receipt email. Lifetime is a one-time payment.
Web access is tied to the browser you purchased in, via an anonymous identifier. Save the access code shown on the Premium page - it is how you restore access on another browser or device, or after clearing your browser data.
Refunds
Not happy with a purchase? Email [email protected] within 14 days of a first purchase, or within 7 days of a renewal, and we will refund it. Send the message from the email address you used at checkout, and include:
- the email address used at checkout (if you are writing from a different address)
- your access code, shown on the Premium page while you are signed in on the browser you purchased from
- roughly when you purchased, and which plan (weekly, yearly or lifetime)
- the last 4 digits of the card, if you have the receipt handy
That is everything needed to find the purchase and process the refund. This policy does not limit any statutory rights you may have.
Acceptable use
You may use PantrySwap for personal and professional cooking. Please don't scrape the database wholesale or republish it as your own reference. Linking to individual ingredient pages is welcome.
Availability and liability
The site is provided as-is, without warranty of accuracy, availability or fitness for a particular purpose. To the fullest extent permitted by law, PantrySwap is not liable for any loss arising from use of the information here - including a dish that didn't work out.
Changes
These terms may be updated; the current version always lives at this address.
